Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) Held By Water Psychotherapy
1. What types of therapy do you offer?
I provide trauma-informed and attachment-based therapy, drawing on family systems approaches, nervous system-informed thinking, schema therapy, and Internal Family Systems (IFS). My work is strengths-based and collaborative, supporting you to heal at your own pace and reconnect with your inner resources.
2. How can therapy help with trauma and relational challenges?
Therapy provides a supportive space to understand and heal the impact of trauma and relationship difficulties on your life. Through a collaborative process, we can uncover how past experiences shape your current patterns—emotionally, relationally, and even physically. By building awareness, self-compassion, and tools for regulation, therapy helps you move toward healing, restore a sense of safety, and foster more connected, authentic relationships—with yourself and others.
3. Do you support neurodivergent clients?
Yes, I warmly welcome neurodivergent clients, including those with ADHD, autism, and other ways of being. I’m committed to creating an inclusive, respectful environment that honours your unique needs and experiences.
4. Do you offer family therapy?
Yes—family therapy is offered on a case-by-case basis, usually after an initial individual session. This helps clarify the dynamics at play and ensures the best approach for supporting the family as a whole.
5. Do you offer Medicare or private health rebates?
No- as a registered counsellor in Australia, I am not eligible to offer Medicare rebates. However, some private health funds—such as BUPA—may offer rebates for counselling services. Please check directly with your insurer to confirm eligibility.
6. What can I expect in a first therapy session?
In our first session, we’ll explore what’s bringing you to therapy, your hopes for the process, and how you currently understand your challenges. I’ll usually take a family and personal history using a systemic and trauma-informed lens, helping us make sense of the broader context. We’ll also hold space for whatever is present in the moment—emotionally, physically, or relationally—and begin shaping a direction for our work together that feels meaningful and safe for you.
7. How long does therapy usually last?
My work tends to go deeper than short-term or brief intervention models. While many clients attend between 6 and 10 sessions, the duration can vary depending on your goals, needs, and the nature of your journey.
8. How do I book a session?
Please book an individual session first so we can connect and clarify your needs. You can book through my website or contact me directly by phone or email. I offer flexible appointment times to suit a range of schedules.
9. What are your fees and payment methods?
Individual therapy: $168 for 60 minutes
Couples therapy: $272 for 90 minutes

10. What is your cancellation policy?
Please provide at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a session. Late cancellations or missed appointments will incur the full session fee.
11. Is therapy confidential?

12. Where are your sessions held?
I’m based in Anglesea, Victoria, and work from a private residential space. Full details are provided once your booking is confirmed. I also offer online sessions upon request.
13. Do you work with LGBTQ+ clients?

I honor the diversity of lived experiences and understand how societal and relational dynamics can impact mental health and identity.
